For many times PlayOnLinux report me that there is a new version of software (4.2.1) Unfortunatly there are no options in POL for remove this banner on startup I'm waiting for a long time a new ebuild for 4.2.1 version, but it never arrived So, today i tried this trick root@GorgonLap /home/gorgon > cp -r /usr/portage/app-emulation/playonlinux /usr/local/portage/app-emulation root@GorgonLap /home/gorgon > cd /usr/local/portage/app-emulation/playonlinux root@GorgonLap portage/app-emulation/playonlinux > cp playonlinux-4.1.9.ebuild playonlinux-4.2.1.ebuild root@GorgonLap portage/app-emulation/playonlinux > ebuild playonlinux-4.2.1.ebuild manifest and it worked root@GorgonLap portage/app-emulation/playonlinux > emerge playonlinux >>> Verifying ebuild manifests >>> Emerging (1 of 1) app-emulation/playonlinux-4.2.1 from x-portage >>> Installing (1 of 1) app-emulation/playonlinux-4.2.1 >>> Jobs: 1 of 1 complete Load avg: 2.48, 1.78, 1.58 root@GorgonLap portage/app-emulation/playonlinux > Now I have installed playonlinux-4.2.1 I suppose it's enough to add new playonlinux ebuild based on previous :) Thank you Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open <=playonlinux-4.1.9 2.Read the banner 3. Actual Results: I'm not able to upgrade the software because there isn't a playonlinux-4.2.1 ebuild in portage Expected Results: A new ebuild for upgrade playonlinux to 4.2.1 version
Created attachment 355242 [details, diff] (same as 4.1.9)
Same here. I can confirm that the new version 4.2.1 compiles and runs with the same ebuild. Please put the version bump into portage. Thanks.
We need a new maintainer for this package because Michael Mol has gone inactive.
Created attachment 369210 [details] playonlinux-4.2.2.ebuild I thaught u guys wanted this. Works greate mo my amd64 rig.
works for me too, but i had to comment out the dodoc line in the ebuild
(In reply to Michael Behr from comment #5) > works for me too, but i had to comment out the dodoc line in the ebuild using amd64, playonlinux-4.2.2
thanks for the ebuild, works without any changes. no errors... yay! :) on ~amd64 here

Okay, the only line that had to be changed from 4.1.9 (officially in the portage tree) and 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 is the "dodoc CHANGELOG" line: it’s now "dodoc CHANGELOG.md". Everything else is the same. Works here on amd64. PLEASE bump the version. Thanks.

PlayOnLinux is getting more problems now! (Annoying constant warning pop-up.) Problem: Annoying warning pop-up when ever a button has been pressed "iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile" Cause: since libpng-1.6.x a new feature has been added to pup-up a warning on incorrect sRGB profiles useded in imgaes .png. "Libpng-1.6.x does more checking of ICC profiles and in particular rejects some "sRGB" profiles that were previously acceptable to ImageMagick." Reproducible: Yes Steps to reproduce: 1. # emerge -av playlinux 2. # emerge -av1 libpng ** app-emulation/playonlinux-4.1.9 (outdated, yet latest in portage) ** media-libs/libpng-1.6.x (latest in portage, now stable) 3. # gpasswd -a <user> games 4. $ playonlinux Actual results: When starting up OR pressing picture buttons the warning pops-up and takes away the focus (Windows Manager) and (steals for te user) time. Expected results: Life without problems. Fixes: A) Add latest PlayOnLinux to portage (recomended) B) Download latest PlayOnLinux yourself instead (meaning of portage then?!) C) Everyone search the internet how to deal with this and do these commands. # USE="png" emerge -av imagemagick # cd /usr/share/games/playonlinux # for i in `find . | grep .png`; do convert "$i" -strip "$i"; done Old sources where the problem was discussed : http://www.playonlinux.com/en/topic-10442-1.html
(In reply to hincor from comment #11) 1. # emerge -av playlinux >> 1. # emerge -av playonlinux
Version 4.2.2 seems to have fixed the "iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile" bug. The only change between 4.1.9 and 4.2.2 is the `dodoc CHANGELOG`, which should now be `dodoc CHANGELOG.md`.
Exactly. And thats why i'm asking for the version bump too.
Created attachment 380484 [details, diff] version bump to 4.2.2 Changes: * use python-single-r1 eclass * use remove_binary_plugin patch from debian * fixes for pol_bash to work with gentoo's bash-completion and lesspipe * add man pages from debian
Created attachment 380486 [details] patches and man pages
An extra comment: The before issues is fixed in the overlay Seden (layman). But sometimes is necessary run “emerge –l wxpython” to fix some issues of execution.
