The:

  enable_flash_uv_swap=1

hack in vdpau_wrapper.conf doesn't seem to affect Opera. I guess that's because the hack simply looks for 'libflashplayer' in /proc/self/cmdline. In Opera, the command-line mentions 'operapluginwrapper-*' instead, with no reference to the actual plugin name.

I'm not sure who's at most fault here, I have no idea if anybody wants to fix it. Adobe should've fixed their screwup long ago and we're letting them get away with it by working it around on our side. Opera is discontinued anyway, so probably there's no point in changing anything with the way it loads plugins.

Apparently they're working on Opera 15.

But I doubt it will retain its own plugin system.

This one doesn't work as I intended it. Am I getting the logic wrong?
Comment 6 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-08-11 22:51:05 UTC
Still applies to 0.7 and still fixes the smurf issue...
Comment 7 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-09-19 14:50:04 UTC
@Doug: would upstream be interested at all in this?
Comment 8 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-11-12 19:52:34 UTC
I have sent the patch to aplattner at nvidia dot com, too.

Apparently that should have gone to some mailing list instead and git-formatted. Which I hope I have succeeded in doing...

There appear to be some existential kinks to work out as to the original workaround for the Flash bug.

Found a few more.
Comment 13 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-06-13 13:52:30 UTC
The patch got lost in an argument over finding the perfect solution to an already hackish problem.
Comment 14 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-09-06 04:13:46 UTC
Reassign to the maintainer.
Comment 15 Stephan Hartmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2020-12-17 19:22:01 UTC
Most likely not needed anymore.
