Many FTP servers have a file 'ls-lR.gz' that is a full listing of their contents, reasonably up to date. In older linux releases, distributions that released an ISO also included a listing of it's contents in parallel, to allow for easy searching without downloading the entire ISO. Having the distfiles master also provide this file would be useful for tracking contents. To create it, after making the iso, just mount it, run 'ls -lR > outputfile' and name the file something like 'install-x86-universal-2004.0.iso.contents'.
This is currently part of the release guidelines. Well, not 100% the way you put it, but very similar: """ The GDP requires [...] the output of find on a mounted CD from each category (both bootable LiveCDs and a Packages CD), and the output of find on a booted universal/ minimal LiveCD. """
i'd strongly think that the ls -lR output here would be more valuable than the find output, as it lists times and sizes for files. it's a little harder to search, so possible we should just have both?
Already done for .1, however find was used
for 2004.2, please consider using the ls -lR method, to provide file information as well!
