When recording a stream with ffmpeg-1.2 in vlc-2.0.6 from an alsa device using the mpga codec with vb 160000000 and ab 192, I get stuttering when I play this back. When I install ffmpeg-1.0.6 back the stuttering is still there on that ffmpeg-1.2 recorded file, whereas if I record again using ffmpeg-1.0.6 there is no stuttering in a new ffmpeg-1.0.6 recorded file. So, this confirms that the problem occurs during recording with ffmpeg-1.2 with the above settings.

Did you rebuild vlc after updating ffmpeg? Also vlc-2.0.7 is now in portage, is bug still reproducable?

this was supposed to be fixed in 2.0.7 iirc

Cool! Thanks for letting us know this has been reflected on the vlc side. Packaged previous ffmpeg version and emerged newest versions of ffmpeg and vlc; I'll try again later today when I get access to the device.

No longer reproducible with new versions.
