Does rebuilding virt manager help with this? There was a similar issue with openvpn (they set it statically at compile time as well).

I had the very same issue today, I can confirm that rebuilding libvirt fixed the issue for me. Probably virt-manager configure phase hardcodes the path in its python scripts. I believe it happened after the unmask of =sys-apps/iproute2-3.8.0, which changes the location of /sbin/ip to /bin/ip.

Can't fix this when the path changes within a same slotted package.
I have the same issue. Why is there no standard /sbin/ip symlink? I simply used the command `ln -s /bin/ip /sbin/ip` and everything was fine.
