I was having trouble installing a ruby package. We've chased the issue down to an extra LDFLAG that is causing the linker to fail. https://github.com/brianmario/charlock_holmes/issues/10 One user suggests "-Wl,--no-undefined" should be removed from the LDFLAGS in /usr/lib64/ruby/1.9.1/x86_64-linux/rbconfig.rb However, maybe this is the desired behavior. If that flag is set, must all programs explicitly link all their dependencies? I'm not familiar enough with linkers to say. Yes, --no-undefined is very useful in pointing out linking problems, and shouldn't be removed. 1) Please post your `emerge --info' output in a comment. 2) Please attach the entire failing build log to this bug report.
We already know what libraries aren't linked explicitly. What I really wanted was someone here to say that this is the desired behavior. Build failure logs are already posted on issues previously linked.
