I cannot find a license for this package, neither in the zipball, nor on the package's homepage. The only things that come close are the following notices in README files: README.MEW: disclaimer; this package is for educational purposes only, any content only may be used for LEGAL actions. the authors cannot be held responsible for any illegal actions. you own your actions. got it ? the authors also do not and will never do or support illegal actions resulting or initiated from offered tools. hence this is open source, we demand a private copy of any chances you do to any of the tools. by using any of the offered tools, you accept this dislaimer. old/README: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ## LEGAL CRAP (just to protect myself) ################################ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS TOOL, WHATEVER DAMAGE IT DOES. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. DON'T USE THIS SOFTWARE TO TRANSFER PIRATED SOFTWARE (AKA WAREZ). ----------------------------------------------------------------------- src/tlsutil.cc and include/tlsutil.h have a BSD-2 license notice. There's usage restrictions in the README notices ("for educational purposes only", "don't use to transfer warez"). The first notice also demands that modifications must be sent to the author, which fails the Desert Island Test. So this isn't "open source" even if its author calls it so. Much worse, I don't see anything that would grant us the right to redistribute this stuff. Unless I'm completely mistaken, we will either need clarification from upstream about distribution terms, or we need mirror restriction. @jer, pacho: CCing you since you've last bumped this package.
Mine was a version bump...
old/README_SRC: I dont think anyone will pick up where I left pftp, and continue to work on it (like removing bugs, annoyances or the half-working FXP part of it). But if you do so, keep at least my copyright somewhere next to yours then :P Sounds like BSD-1.

But if you do so, keep at least my copyright somewhere > next to yours then :P > > > Sounds like BSD-1. IMHO, that seems a little far-fetched. The BSD licenses explicitly grant the right for redistribution and use, with or without modification. I don't see anything like this here.
In that case, maybe this should be removed :|
(In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #4) > In that case, maybe this should be removed :| @treecleaners: Do you want to proceed with removal of this package? If not, we could alternatively change LICENSE to "all-rights-reserved" (not entirely accurate though), and add mirror and bindist restrictions.
It's due lack of time, otherwise I would have masked it for removal already. If you have time, feel free to go ahead and last rite :)
# Ulrich Müller <ulm@gentoo.org> (15 Mar 2014) # No license, unknown copyright holder. No Gentoo maintainer. # Masked for removal in 30 days, bug 465784. net-ftp/pftpfxp
Package removed.
