how much memory + swap do you have? does this still happen on -O1 ? does this still happen on a more stable kernel (I've heard lots of issues with the -love kernels)
I just upgraded to a new kernel this week and the install just went off without a hitch. Sorry, I can't seem to duplicate it anymore. I'd guess it was just a bug in that love sources.
