Description Daniel Hornung 2013-02-27 05:06:09 UTC
Building libiconv-1.14 fails on OS X (10.5.8) with an invalid install_name error. This seems similar to bug #455512 to me.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to emerge libiconv.

Actual Results:
Fails with the attached error messages:

 * QA Notice: invalid reference to /opt/gentoo/lib/libiconv.2.dylib/opt/gentoo/lib/libiconv.2.dylib in /opt/gentoo/usr/bin/iconv
 * ERROR: dev-libs/libiconv-1.14 failed:
 * invalid install_name found, your application or library will crash at runtime

 * Call stack:
 *   misc-functions.sh, line 1893:  Called install_qa_check
 *   misc-functions.sh, line  290:  Called install_qa_check_macho
 *   misc-functions.sh, line 1104:  Called die
 * The specific snippet of code:
 *              has allow_broken_install_names ${FEATURES} || \
 * die "invalid install_name found, your application or library will crash at runtime"
 *
 * If you need support, post the output of `emerge --info '=dev-libs/libiconv-1.14'`,
 * the complete build log and the output of `emerge -pqv '=dev-libs/libiconv-1.14'`.
 * The complete build log is located at '/opt/gentoo/var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/libiconv-1.14/temp/build.log'.

 * Working directory: '/opt/gentoo/var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/libiconv-1.14/image'
 * S: '/opt/gentoo/var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/libiconv-1.14/work/libiconv-1.14'
!!! post install failed; exiting.

Expected Results:
Should build alright.

This was the first emerge in a long time, I hope that was no problem.

See my emerge --info below:

Same issue with Prefix on an old OSX Tiger (10.4) PowerBook G3. Also been quite a while since emerge was last synced on this system.
Comment 3 Martin von Gagern 2013-06-28 09:31:16 UTC
Same here, while doing emerge --emptytree world on OS X 10.8.4 after copying the Gentoo tree from OS X 10.7.5.
