It appears that in newer versions of squirrelmail, some behaviors hage changed. In http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/virt-mail-howto.xml#doc_chap11, the squirrelmail instructions in clode listing 11.1 include the following two lines # cd /var/www/localhost/htdocs/mail/conf # ./conf.pl The version that is currrently stable for x86 and sparc has changed the conf dir to config and the executable bit is not set on conf.pl, so he following should work. # cd /var/www/localhost/htdocs/mail/config # perl ./config.pl Alternatively, the document could advise the use of chmod to fix the executable bit problem, but I don't know if that will cause portage to not remove the file should the user ever uninstall squirrelmail since the file will have been changed from it's installed copy. This was noticed in the following forum post; http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=991836#991836
Fixed in CVS. I'm rewrting the desktop guide (without squirrelmail instructions) so those instructions will be removed later.
