I'm trying to enable kerberos system-wide. I have app-crypt/heimdal-1.5 already installed (it's pulled in by =net-fs/samba-4.0.3).

emerge -uDN @world blocks because net-fs/nfs-utils explicitly depends on app-crypt/mit-krb5. There is an included comment suggesting why this is so:

# kth-krb doesn't provide the right include
# files, and nfs-utils doesn't build against heimdal either,
# so don't depend on virtual/krb.
# (04 Feb 2005 agriffis)

That's dated *eight* years ago. Is this still true/relevant? Can we get this fixed? (I'd hack something together, but I don't have the time right now.)

Bug 231296 has nothing to do with NFS or kerberos...
