Description David Relson 2013-01-08 01:17:47 UTC
When I try to start a virtual machine, vmware player complains that vmmon module is the wrong version.

I have uninstalled vmware-player and vmware-modules and run emerge for
  vmware-player-5.0.1.894247 and vmware-modules-271.1-r1

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start vmware
2. select a virtual machine
3. click on "Play virtual machine"
Actual Results:
An Error dialog is displayed that says:

Version mismatch with vmmon module: expecting 271.0, got 264.1.
You have an incorrect version of the `vmmon' kernel module.
Try reinstalling VMware Player.

After lsmod showed that a newly built vmmon wasn't being used, I ran "rmmod", then "modprobe". This corrected the problem.
