The ebuild currently has LICENSE="as-is". Both the 00readme file included in the tarball and the HOMEPAGE are in Japanese only. @cjk team: Can you help?
I'm not in the CJK team, but if it helps, the relevant section says, "This isn't much of a program, so please boil it, roast it, or do whatever you want with it. For my part, I will not take responsibility for it under any circumstances." (The boil/roast thing is a Japanese idiom.)
It's this section, I assume: 著作権 ------ 大したプログラムでもありませんので,煮るなり焼くなり好きにして下さい. そのかわり私は,なにがあっても責任は取りません. "Do whatever you want" would imply that it's allowed to modify and redistribute the program, i.e. that it's Free Software?

The body is as I translated above. > (In reply to comment #1) > > I'm not in the CJK team, but if it helps, the relevant section says, "This > > isn't much of a program, so please boil it, roast it, or do whatever you > > want with it. There's nothing special about the phrasing used in that sentence that would make me think otherwise. Just treat it the same as if it were in English, "do whatever you want with it". Sounds kind of like WTFPL to me :)
Could you comment about what license would be suitable for this package? - It allows anything you want to do. - The author won't take any responsibity for any result
(In reply to comment #4) > Could you comment about what license would be suitable for this package? I suggest that we add an own license file for it. Best would be if we could get some statement in English from the author. If that isn't possible, we could put the snippet from comment #2 into the file. This should be followed by a "Gentoo license note" explaining what the terms are. Maybe just this: > - It allows anything you want to do. > - The author won't take any responsibity for any result
Created attachment 345660 [details] licenses/canfep (In reply to comment #5) > [...] we could put the snippet from comment #2 into the file. This should > be followed by a "Gentoo license note" explaining what the terms are. As attached. If there are no objections, I'll commit this in a few days, and also add it to the MISC-FREE license group.
Fixed.
