Hello: I recently attempted a gentoo install of 2004.1 with the 2.6.7-gentoo-26 kernel. Turns out that the second time was the charm, but I certainly did learn a lot the first time around. ;) Starting from stage 1, I noticed the following output during both of the installs when running mirrorselect [step 6.a for those reading along in their on-line HowTO books]. livecd gentoo # mirrorselect -a -s4 -o | grep -ve '^Netselect' >> /mnt/gentoo/etc/make.conf Download a list of mirrors... /usr/sbin/mirrorselect: line 1: portageq: command not found Downloading 100k segments from 147 server(s) /usr/sbin/mirrorselect: line 184: <!DOCTYPE: command not found Sorting by speedftp://gentoo.risq.qc.ca/ Cleaning temporary files This seemed relevant to the bug at hand, let me know if you need more info on my system
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux". I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers, this is the only reasonable way to do this.
