Description Vincent van de Camp 2004-03-03 16:13:35 UTC
STR: Insert CDROM in laptop and boot. Select either gentoo or smp kernel.

For smp kernel:
After STEP 6: pivot_root and exec/chroot real init it says
request_module: runaway loop modprobe binfmt-9653
which is then repeated three times, after which the system is unusable. There is no prompt, but I can type and see the letters echo'd on the display. Ctrl-alt-delete works.

For gentoo kernel:
After STEP 6, the system keeps printing indefinately:
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k binfmt-9653, errno = 8

The CDROM is bootable on a Dimension P4 machine. The x86 in the name of the iso suggests that it should boot on a P3, but is the x86 install image suitable for P3?
