Description David Holm 2012-09-14 08:19:34 UTC
I attempted to install Gentoo Prefix on windows vista but it fails to install every time unless I force it to use gpx-sua6.1.tar.gz. I tried to manually decompress gpx-sua6.0.tar.gz and I receive an 'unexpected end of file' from tar while decompressing files in /var.

The MD5 of my ISO matches the digests from distfiles:
    $ md5 gpx-universal-20110831.iso
    MD5 (gpx-universal-20110831.iso) = 0e00f14cfe1a855a598ceae82d189883

    $ md5 /dev/fs/E/Data/Snapshot/gpx-sua6.0.tar.gz
    MD5 (/dev/fs/E/Data/Snapshot/gpx-sua6.0.tar.gz) = 81b883a103083112fcccd96ec916f577

I have been running on the gpx-sua6.1.tar.gz (which I believe is for Interix on windows 7?) but I am getting several strange compilation errors in various packages and I cannot rule out that they aren't related to the fact that I'm using the wrong snapshot.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download http://distfiles.gentoo.org/experimental/prefix/x86-interix/20110902/gpx-universal-20110831.iso
2. Mount it and run tar ztvf on Data/Snapshot/gpx-sua6.0.tar.gz
3. Observe tar failure
Actual Results:
Installation fails

Expected Results:
Installation succeeds :D

We have migrated away from x86-Interix (somewhat useful up to Windows Server 2008) towards x64-Cygwin (working on Windows Server 2008 and newer).
