I have noticed, that after update smplayer does not install russian locale. Recently, there was commit(picked up from portage/media-video/smplayer/Changelog): 26 Jul 2012; Ben de Groot <yngwin@gentoo.org> smplayer-0.8.0.ebuild: Use l10n.eclass for handling locales. It seems, that this commit drops 'linguas_ru' and replaces it by 'linguas_ru_RU'. It is new to me, all apps that i have seen in portage before use 'linguas_ru' if they have russian locale. I have workaround for this issue(set LINGUAS to "ru ru_RU" in /etc/make.conf), but i would like to know, is this a bug or a feature? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Same problem with Ukrainian locale: Calculating dependencies... done! As was said in IRC by yngwin - "this is not a bug". Values of "ru_RU" and "uk_UA" is valid for LINGUAS. For list of valid LINGUAS values please see linguas.desc in /usr/portage/profiles/desc. I suggest little modification of localization guide to introduce link to this file. Link to apropriate bug is in "See Also" field. Closing this as INVALID
