Description Ian Stakenvicius (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-07-11 17:19:09 UTC
The init script(s) provided in FILESDIR for mail-filter/spambayes has a license of GPL-2 but GPL-2 isn't within the LICENSE variable of the ebuild(s):

files/spambayespop3proxy.rc has license line:
# Distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License v2
... and is used by the following ebuilds:
spambayes-1.1_alpha6-r1.ebuild:LICENSE="PSF-2.2"

There are two options here -- either LICENSE in the ebuilds should be appended with GPL-2 to cover the init script, or the init script should be relicensed so that it is covered by current LICENSE (this one is probably the preferred resolution). See also bug 425702 .

Hmm the init script for this was originally from bug #51522 and contributed by a user (probably based on some other init script originally,...)

so what would be the best course of action just append GPL-2 to LICENSE? (I mean I don'T think any gentoo users do *not* accept gpl-2)

Otherwise i'd have to try to contact the guy who wrote it in 2004 ^^

Yes, generally adding GPL-2 to LICENSE is the easiest/best bet.
Comment 3 Thomas Raschbacher gentoo-dev 2012-09-07 12:43:10 UTC
added GPL-2 license
