Description Jim Smilanich 2004-02-18 18:47:27 UTC
I've dug through the online Portage database as well as done a search for lifelines using the 'emerge search' and 'emerge search --searchdesc' syntax. It's not showing up. My assumption at this point is that it's not in the system yet.

Lifelines is an open source genealogy program available for Linux, MacOS, and Windows. It's console based, btw. I assume that means fewer library issues?

The ebuild for lifelines-3.0.37.2.ebuild.
Comment 2 Jim Smilanich 2004-02-24 17:59:50 UTC
OK, I see the ebuild. Am I supposed to do something with it?

Sorry for sounding like such a newb, but I've never used anything but the standard portage tree.

lifelines-3.0.37.2.ebuild - Revised ebuild

Here are the changes I made :

- Added app-text/docbook-sgml-utils as an optional dep. (Required if using the
doc use flag.) docbook-sgml-utils are used to build the lifelines
  documentation from source.
- Use a sed script to avoid building the win32 and docs subdirs. The docs are
built separatly to avoid their installation in /usr/share/lifelines. Instead,
they are manually copied to /usr/share/${P} if the doc use flag is activated.
- Report making programs are installed in /usr/share/lifelines/reports.
- An env file (25lifelines) provides the default path for the report making
  programs.

I will also post a metadata.xml file.

metadata.xml

Goes with 32822.

- Provides long description.
- Assigns to science herd.

Hi guys any news about this ebuild?
I can't find in the official gentoo tree...

I've tried it without success...Has it been forgotten?

Updated the posted ebuild for the current lifelines version (3.0.62). Also started a ChangeLog.

I'm no longer running a Gentoo desktop so I have no way to test this.
