Description Florian Effenberger 2004-02-18 06:09:31 UTC
emerge unmerge should remove configuration files as well, because you have a lot unnecessary of them flying around when you have uninstalled some packages

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge unmerge PACKAGE
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Configuration files, e.g. /etc/conf.d/gpm are lying around

Expected Results:
They should be removed

emerge --help config
Comment 2 Florian Effenberger 2004-02-18 06:23:37 UTC
After reading it, I still miss a feature on the command line, e.g.

emerge unmerge --removeconfig mypacke

Manually editing the make.conf before and resetting it to the previous setting after emerge unmerge is a little bit annoying...

Could be marked as dup of bug #43066 ?
Comment 4 Jason Stubbs (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-28 07:25:04 UTC
Putting a hold on feature requests for portage as they are drowning out the
bugs. Most of these features should be available in the next major version of
portage. But for the time being, they are just drowning out the major bugs and
delaying the next version's progress.

Any bugs that contain patches and any bugs for etc-update or dispatch-conf can
be reopened. Sorry, I'm just not good enough with bugzilla. ;)
