configure.ac:8: version mismatch. This is Automake 1.10.3,
configure.ac:8: but the definition used by this AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE
configure.ac:8: comes from Automake 1.9.6. You should recreate
configure.ac:8: aclocal.m4 with aclocal and run automake again.
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2012-05-25 03:41:23 UTC
what versions of automake do you have installed ?

make sure your tree is synced, and run `emerge --debug docbook2X >& log`, then post that log as an attachment
Comment 4 Steffen Hau 2012-05-25 09:58:09 UTC
According to my emerge --info output above:
sys-devel/automake: 1.10.3, 1.11.5

I'll attach the output of the log file.

Comment 6 Steffen Hau 2012-05-25 10:21:28 UTC
I've synced my portage tree and there was an updated version of the ebuild.

  25 May 2012; Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org> docbook2X-0.8.8-r2.ebuild:
Update to EAPI=4, and make --program-transform-name work with newer versions
of autotools #318297 by Patrick Lauer.

I was able to successfully merge the ebuild now. You can close the bug.

Seems like another instance of random automake failures; nothing I can do about it.
Comment 10 Ryan Hill (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-01-27 19:49:39 UTC
WANT_AUTOMAKE=1.9 and it works fine.

(Please leave the maintainer email in CC, even if you don't feel like fixing it. It's your package, like it or not.)

If I could fix it I would; WANT_AUTOMAKE=1.9 seems like a workaround. Feel free to commit that if you like.
Comment 12 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2013-01-27 20:08:24 UTC
Sorry for being an ass; I have committed your suggestion as a temporary workaround.

I really wish somebody could figure that damned automake bug though.
Comment 13 Sergey Popov gentoo-dev 2013-07-29 10:52:22 UTC
Some non-critical warnings are still happened in -r3, but i have tested it with automake 1.12.6, 1.13.1 and 1.14 - all builds and installs well, so i close this as FIXED for now
