Considering that $PORTDIR may be removed in a future EAPI, please consider removing its use from the punt_cxx() function.

i'm using PORTDIR="/path/to/gentoo-x86" in make.conf, is that deprecated then too? how would I set the path with non-deprecated way?

make.conf is portage-specific.
