XFree86 crashes within a minute of launching with agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1 and radeon as modules. Using linux-2.4.22-gentoo-r5 with kernel dri turned off, agp as a module with via support only. /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.4 set to load agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1 and radeon at boot. Both modules load without errors. There are no stability problems if you are looking at the console, even if xfree is running. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.On a VIA with VT8753 agp and a Radeon 9000 (64MB) video card, load agpgart module with agp_try_unsupported=1 (or else it won't load). 2.modprobe radeon 3.startx Actual Results: glxinfo | grep rendering shows that dri is running. XFree will eventually freeze and lock the session. To get out, you must ssh in to sync disks, and hard restart (shutdown command through ssh appears to sync disks, then die, another feature of this bug.) Expected Results: dri shouldn't freeze xfree86, and at least I should be able to restart from ssh without hard-restarting. This bug is being reported in the hopes that someone will add dri support for the VT8753 agp chipset. :-) The current kludge is to disable agpgart, which means no dri. :-(
Is this still the case w/ xorg-x11-6.8?
Please reopen and change the summary if this is still a problem with >=xorg-x11-6.8.0.
