 *   /usr/portage/app-emulation/vmware-modules/files/264-apic.patch
 *   ( 264-apic.patch )

You can place this patch into the /usr/portage/app-emulation/vmware-modules/files/ directory yourself and then recreate the digest and it will build correctly.

overlay "vmware" builds correctly.

But the main intent of any bug is 
to give e.g. vadimk a hint
to have it fixed in _portage_ .
