Description Simon Farnsworth 2004-02-11 15:37:42 UTC
KDE 3.2 includes a KDE Wallet Manager component that is supposed to store passwords and reenter them automatically at a later date. KDE's bugzilla shows that if KDE 3.1 and KDE 3.2 are both installed, and that Konqueror picks up KHTML from KDE 3.1, then the wallet manager fails to work.

Installing KDE 3.2 on Gentoo causes the wallet manager to fail to work, as the ebuilds don't cause portage to remove all earlier versions of KDE; a manual removal of older versions solves this, so I suspect that Konqueror is picking up the old version of KHTML. Rebooting does not help.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install KDE 3.1 and use it
2. Install KDE 3.2 via emerge -u --deep world
3. Attempt to use the KDE Wallet Manager to store passwords.

Actual Results:
Konqueror stores the passwords, but does not retrieve them.

Expected Results:
When I revisited a page with passwords in it, Konqueror should reenter the
passwords

Make sure that KDEDIRS does not include /usr/kde/3.1
Basically the paths should be:
KDEDIR=/usr/kde/3.2
KDEDIRS=/usr
Comment 2 Simon Farnsworth 2004-03-05 10:02:47 UTC
Unfortunately, I unmerged KDE 3.1, and don't have another machine to play with. I'm changing the bug status to Resolved, NEEDINFO, so that if someone else has the same problem it's still visible, but if they don't, it can be closed.
Comment 3 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-25 06:04:04 UTC
Close dead old bug originally resolved "needinfo".
