Are you using very aggressive versions of ffmpeg/libav like 9999? FF_{I,P,B}_TYPE is marked deprecated in =ffmpeg-0.10* and removed in ffmpeg-9999. It should be possible to write a patch to replace these deprecated symbols with new ones, but I guess installing a stable ffmpeg version is easier.

Okay, vlc-2.0.1[switcher] compiles fine with the patch on my box, but I don't know if it works fine.

1. All the patches I attached so far could break compatibility with older ffmpeg versions. 2. The problem looks much more complicated than what I initially thought.
