I screwed my portage today and untared the rescue-portage in /usr/portage/sys-apps/portage/files but this one is only for python-2.2 and after the update to python-2.3 I removed python-2.2 and so the portage-package did not work. /usr/sbin/python-updater did also not work.
So I think a special rescue-package for python-2.3-only-users should be in portage.

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerge python-2.3 and remove python 2.2
2. Screw up your portage
3. unpack the rescue-package
4. run emerge

Actual Results:  
it will moan about the missing python-2.2 interpreter. Ediditing the interpreter 
manually did not work for me.

Expected Results:  
should install a working portage-version.

New rescues are available... See the readme.
X86 is updated, at least.
