After `env USE=-git emerge -u system` builds sys-devel/binutils-2.22-r1 as part of the bootstrap procedure on Solaris, configure scripts for C programs break due to the GNU ld target change: configure: error: in `/tmp/old_tree/var/tmp/portage/app-editors/nano-2.3.1-r1/work/nano-2.3.1': configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details This results in an unusable prefix unless the user sees the mailing list post by Fabian: http://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-alt/msg_a4641a1c17ce5f66a05c6440dd5cfca87.xml While we know that there is a solution for this, there is nothing in the bootstrap procedure to help users when they encounter this and until the snapshot is updated, they will encounter it every time. Bug #405907 was resolved as CANTFIX, but the effect on the bootstrap procedure is a consequence that was overlooked at the time. Rather than rededicating that bug to this, I am opening a new one to track this issue.
we just need a snpshot bump
snapshot bumped
