Description Daniel Nilsson 2012-02-18 15:32:56 UTC
I'm using the rsync.se.gentoo.org rotation, but since it only contain one server emerge --sync fails if that one is down. I would like a way to make portage fall back to another rotation when to first one is exhausted.
I propose to add support for more than one entry in SYNC (or some other way to achieve the same function).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge --sync
Actual Results:
!!! Exhausted addresses for rsync.se.gentoo.org

Expected Results:
Fallback to another rsync rotation.

A workaround is to just use a larger rotation such as rsync.europe.gentoo.org instead. But this is not optimal, some servers there are quite a lot slower than those close to where I live.
I count at least 10 countries with just one server, so this feature would benefit users in all those countries.
