This looks like a duplicate of bug #397429, but for 3.6.1-r2. If so I can backport that patch. However, I really need to be sure. Can you post your /var/tmp/portage/dev-util/valgrind-3.6.1-r2/temp/automake.out. Otherwise, I can try to reproduce it here.

Makefile.am:60: `pkglibdir' is not a legitimate directory for `DATA' Yep, its the same error. I'll have 3.6.1-r3 out soon.
Okay this is fixed. I actually didn't rev bump, so the fix is in valgrind-3.6.1-r2. I'm closing this resolved-fixed, but please feel free to reopen if I'm deluded ;)
