Description Yi Quang (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-03 19:02:24 UTC
gossip-0.7.1 fails to compile at two points. First, it wants /usr/lib/libgcrypt.so.1, which doesn't exist. If one sym links the /usr/lib/libgcrypto.so.7.3.1 library to libgcrypt.so.1, the compile fails with this error:

/usr/lib/libgnutls.so: undefined reference to `_gcry_generate_elg_prime'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

This all can be fixed by bumping the loudmouth ebuild to .15.1, PLEASE at least test these ebuilds before you bump them, OR ask the people that submit them to do some preliminary testing.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

I would slow down a bit here. First of all ~arch is meant to find such things, so this has nothing todo with buildtesting (as a matter of fact i run all this just fine). Second, loudmouth-0.15.1 deps on a lib (gnutls-1) not yet in portage afaik so you shouldnt be able to have it in the first place. Third, the problem i assume comes from someone using the latest libgcrypt with an older gnutls or something, in that case it is a 'mistake' in the gnutls deps and from the dev bumping libgcrypt so easily, but not one that could be foreseen. You probably built your gnutls against the older version of libgcrypt.

Try to be more constructive.

Same here, gossip 0.7.1 runs fine, and links pertily well to libgnutls.so.7

So I'd also assume theres something with your systems consistency (gcrypt/gnutls) that isn't full well.

( you can try "revdep rebuild -p" and see what it considers broken. )

Duplicating with this, as it will solve with the new version.
