Description Agostino Sarubbo gentoo-dev 2012-01-21 09:56:01 UTC
Portage in the future will use git, probably is a good idea to have an how-to like this http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=1&chap=4
Comment 1 nm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-01-22 07:54:21 UTC
this is something the portage/devrel teams would write for the developer handbook; not something the gdp would do, since it's not end-user documentation.
Comment 2 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-01-22 09:52:03 UTC
In the future? When? I don't think this bug makes sense right now. We can't document something we don't use or something that we have no idea how it would be in the future. Once git becomes reality we will document some bits

we use git for overlay, so imho makes anyway a bit sense.

We also use svn in overlays but we don't have an svn documentation. The devrel handbook and the devmanual are mainly for the official tree. If you want to learn about git then there are excellent resources out there
