Installed gentoo-smp per instructions. Install SILO on hard disk. Left one block at the beginning of the disk so that SILO would install bootblock. Everything looks good and can boot off CD. Gentoo seems to be running GREAT when installing. NO MATTER WHAT I TRY, What disc or slice I try to make the system boot off of, it says does not appear executable. Tried everything including all partitions on both discs. Will not boot off the hard drive. Have two four gig SUN 4.2 drives. Tried making smaller separate boot partition. Appears to NOT be installing the boot block. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.booted gentoo-smp from cdrom 2.EXACTLY followed install and partitioning recommendations 3.reset system to try and boot from disk Actual Results: would not boot from any hard drive and would not boot from any partition on any hard drive Expected Results: should boot gentoo from hard drive
Please post the output of the following: fdisk -l /dev/scsi/whateveryourdiscis/disc cat /boot/silo.conf ls -ldh /boot/yourkernelnamehere
