Hi, I have exactly the same problem, but on the kernel: tuxonice-sources-3.0.6. kernel/linuxwacom-module-0.8.8_p10/image/ category sys-kernel cp: cannot stat `src/*/wacom.o': No such file or directory cp: cannot stat `src/*/wacom.ko': No such file or directory
I have the very same problem here with the standard gentoo-sources 3.0.6 on amd64. configure shows: ---------------------------------------- BUILD ENVIRONMENT: architecture - x86_64-pc-linux-gnu linux kernel - yes kernel source - yes /lib/modules/3.0.6-gentoo/build XFree86 source - no Xorg SDK - no no XSERVER64 - no dlloader - no XLib - no no xf86config - no TCL - no no TK - no no ncurses - yes BUILD OPTIONS: wacom.o - no wacdump - no xidump - no libwacomcfg - no libwacomxi - no xsetwacom - no wacomxrrd - no hid.o - no wacom_drv.so - no wacom_drv.o - no wacom*_drv quirks - IsXExtensionPointer key-events ---------------------------------------- and later I get cp: Aufruf von stat für „src/*/wacom.o“ nicht möglich: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden cp: Aufruf von stat für „src/*/wacom.ko“ nicht möglich: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden or in LC_ALL=C: cp: cannot stat `src/*/wacom.o': No such file or directory cp: cannot stat `src/*/wacom.ko': No such file or directory Perhaps, the ebuild looks in the wrong paths? It doesn't find X11, etc.
I'm not perfectly sure if the other reporters had the same intention as me, but I tried to install this package because the in-kernel wacom tablet driver didn't work for my newly bought Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet. Installing the current wacom kernel driver by hand (based on the instructions on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1515562 ) using the sources provided by http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/linuxwacom/input-wacom-0.12.0.tar.bz2 did the trick for me. So here we have version 0.8.8 in portage of which the ebuild is broken. The current version seems to be 0.12.0 and works fine – so perhaps, instead of fixing this out-dated ebuild, a version bump to the latest (and working!) version should be done.
i guess this version is just incompatible with kernel 3.-whatever # ls linuxwacom-0.8.8-10/src 2.6.16 2.6.18 2.6.24 2.6.30 Makefile Makefile.am Makefile.in Module.symvers -> /var/tmp/portage/sys-kernel/linuxwacom-module-0.8.8_p10/work/linuxwacom-0.8.8-10/Module.symvers include util wacom.4x wacom.4x.gz wacomxi xdrv xsetwacom.4x xsetwacom.4x.gz so the deps are wrong AND a version bump is needed.
input-wacom-0.12.0 builds and works without a problem, tested with gentoo-sources-3.0.6 and gentoo-sources-3.1.6. All I had to to was ./configure cp 2.6.38/wacom.ko /lib/modules/3.1.6-gentoo/kernel/drivers/input/ ./configure quite unusually also starts make. There were three 2.6.* direcories, but it did work, so I don't think this causes the incompatibility. Without a reboot, I had to do insmod /lib/modules/3.1.6-gentoo/kernel/drivers/input/wacom.ko to make my tablet work; after a reboot the module is loaded automatically or can be loaded via modprobe. I'm pretty sure running some command will make it work immediately, but I'm not so experienced in compiling out-of-kernel modules by hand (or even in writing an ebuild for them ;-)
I have the same issue under gentoo-sources-3.2.2-gentoo with a Wacom Bamboo CTL470L. The solution provided for Tobias Leupold also did the trick for me. Thanks, bro!
Just checked out the linuxwacom's project page, and I found out that linuxwacom-module package is somehow deprecated now. Modern distributions users are encouraged to use Xf86-input-wacom package instead. So all you need to do is to emerge x11-drivers/xf86-input-wacom and enable the wacom driver in your kernel according to the message after xf86-input-wacom is emerged. Now I have my wacom tablet working again. :)
