I cannot reproduce this crash.

What version of dev-libs/folks are you using? With what USE flags?

Please rebuild gnome-contacts and folks with "-ggdb" in CFLAGS and "splitdebug" in FEATURES, and attach a meaningful backtrace. See http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml for instructions.
Comment 3 LeDabe 2011-11-14 07:30:56 UTC
Folks has just been updated to 0.6.5

The program still crashes, but not in the same place:

I can click the add button and type the contact's name
But the crashe come when I select any other field.

I can confirm this bug. gnome-contacts is empty even though my google account is activated and everything syncs fine with evolution. When I try to add a contact it segfaults. Something seems off with it not finding the google account to begin with.

Probably not enough info but maybe it will help:

SOLVED ... setting USE flag EDS fixes this problem.
Comment 9 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2011-12-20 11:58:47 UTC
Is it still failing without "eds"?
Comment 10 biohazrd 2011-12-20 21:31:33 UTC
(In reply to comment #9)
> Is it still failing without "eds"?

Yes. Without the EDS use flag the program would open fine however it could not connect to my google accounts which makes sense as it would need to use evolution data server to find them.

Without EDS use flag it still segfaulted upon adding a contact to the empty book. I don't use "Personal Contacts" in Evolution if that is where it is trying to pull/save the local data. But I would expect it to enable the Personal Contacts in Evolution and add them if needed.
Comment 11 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2012-01-30 11:09:10 UTC
This should probably be reported to upstream if still valid
Comment 12 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2012-09-16 08:40:01 UTC
Still valid with 3.4.1?
