We'll have to add a QA_SONAME_SYMLINKS variable so that the ebuild can prevent the symlinks from being created like this: QA_SONAME_SYMLINKS=" usr/lib*/loki_libc.so.6 usr/lib*/loki_libsmpeg-0.4.so.0 usr/lib*/loki_libnss_files.so.2 lib*/loki_ld-linux.so.2"

Maybe we should just complain about missing symlinks, and use QA_SONAME_SYMLINKS to disable the complaining (like the other QA_ vars do), and let ebuild authors create soname symlinks explicitly if they need them.
FYI, this was previously reported in bug 385013 and bug 385299. Zac, Michał, thanks for looking into this, as opposed to the other developer who just closed the previous bugs with no help or resolution and ignored the issue.

QA_SONAME_NO_SYMLINK is in git: http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/portage.git;a=commit;h=dcb42a417355510284a35c08a4bf849047122a5c (In reply to comment #3) > Not sure if this is the best solution. Okay, that's done too: http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/portage.git;a=commit;h=d1499e9e3b08fd3e539f1b9a740d243bec67872c
Fix inverted QA_SONAME_NO_SYMLINK logic: http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/portage.git;a=commit;h=350f7536df5528cf12baf140e71f899c439fdb3f
This is fixed in 2.1.10.28 and 2.2.0_alpha68.
