Description Klaus Kusche 2011-10-01 07:37:19 UTC
Please:
* Keep the latest gtk2 version of nemiver in tree (nemiver 0.8.1).
* Fix it to depend on the gtk2 slot version of vte.
(it currently pulls in the gtk3 slot version of vte and doesn't work with that,
at least for me).

The switch to gtk3 won't happen here for at least a year
(XFCE will stay with gtk2 even in their next major release),
and gtk3 is currently unuseable for me
(I tried, it doesn't display anything readable).

Please undup and reopen, this bug and bug 374057 are completely unrelated:

* This is about nemiver (a debugger), the other is about gnome mplayer (media
player).

* The other asks to support gtk2 in new ebuilds of gnome mplayer (because
upstream still supports gtk2 in new releases). This one is not about supporting gtk2 in new ebuilds of nemiver, but just to leave the last existing gtk2-based ebuild of nemiver (0.8.1) in the portage tree, basically "as is", just adding the correct slots to the dependencies.

So this one requires much less work and testing than 374057, it just asks to keep an already-working ebuild in tree.

No, that bug report explains the reasons for moving to gtk3 based apps instead of keeping both
