Description PM 2011-08-27 10:44:54 UTC
On locales that use a comma instead of a dot as a decimal separator (I'm not sure if that's the issue, but it looks like it), Chromium shows NaNs instead of sizes, speed and ETA. Here's a screenshot:
http://chromium.googlecode.com/issues/attachment?aid=928470003000&name=ch2.png&token=90ccc9cfbe97d444ca3eeb724d33a758&inline=1

Upstream says this has been fixed in version 14. They told me to report it here since Chromium on Gentoo uses system ICU.

Reproducible: Always

Same with de_DE (also using commas) on 15.0.849.0.

neurogeek, could you consider applying http://bugs.icu-project.org/trac/attachment/ticket/8561/icu.patch for dev-util/icu? This is what fixed the problem in the Chrome's bundled copy of ICU, and we use the system version.

The ICU bug report is http://bugs.icu-project.org/trac/ticket/8561

Adding neurogeek to CC; Arfrever's bugzilla account doesn't work.

Can you take a look at Paweł's comment above?
Comment 4 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2011-08-29 18:47:51 UTC
I spoke to Arfrever on irc, and he asked me to ping icu upstream to accept the patch. I will do that shortly.
Comment 5 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2011-09-09 19:19:26 UTC
I have not heard anything from upstream after leaving a comment on their issue tracker and mailing their support list.

Thank you for pinging them.

dev-util/icu maintainers: is it OK to patch our dev-util/icu with the patch mentioned here? In case of no response I'm going to do just that. The upstream ICU is known to be slow.

Comment 7 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2011-10-11 01:23:15 UTC
ICU upstream applied the patch a couple weeks ago.

I have just rev-bumped dev-libs/icu. The maintainers haven't replied here for months.

I'll keep this bug open until the fix makes it to stable (will open a stabilization bug after 30 days).
Comment 9 Paweł Hajdan, Jr. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-10-24 17:14:15 UTC
Patched ICU is now stable on all archs (x86, amd64) on which chromium is stable. Closing.
