Please bump the gpodder ebuild in portage to version 2.18. A simple rename of the 2.15 ebuild works. Reproducible: Always
current Version is 3.0.1 with Release date: 2011-11-13. Would be nice to get this major version bump. Thanks. BR, Thomas
Created attachment 318492 [details] gpodder-2.20.1 and gpodder-3.1.2 overlay I updated the version of gpodder in the attached overlay. It is my first attempt at working on ebuilds, so let me know if anything is wrong. I would be happy to maintain this package if possible. It seems to not have been updated in some time. I've included the latest releases for 2 and 3 branches because 3 changes some things and could cause problems for some people. I didn't do very much testing with use flags, so that could also cause problems for some people. I'll try to compile with all the use flags for both versions and update this issue.
Seems 2.x is no longer maintained as 3.2.0 now has player sync capability. Would be nice to see an upgrade in the tree.
Does anybody want to step up as proxy maintainer and give us a working 3.2 ebuild?
Created attachment 319630 [details] gpodder-2.20.1 and gpodder-3.2.0 overlay Overlay update for which includes a gpodder 3.2.0 ebuild. This new ebuild is based on the 2.20.1 ebuild and my previous 3.1.2 ebuild. Let me know if it needs any modifications.
Why did you remove the distutils_src_compile, and the pkg_{preinst,postinst,postrm} from the 3.2.0 ebuild?
+*gpodder-3.2.0 (31 Jul 2012) +*gpodder-2.20.1 (31 Jul 2012) + + 31 Jul 2012; Ben de Groot <yngwin@gentoo.org> +gpodder-2.20.1.ebuild, + +gpodder-3.2.0.ebuild, -gpodder-2.9.ebuild: + Add latest versions of gPodder2 and gPodder3, thanks to contributors in bug + #380007 Also, it would be nice to offer the QML Qt4 UI for gPodder3, but it needs a dependency that is not in the tree yet. Then we could make the GTK+ UI optional.
I removed distutils because it didn't seem necessary from the results of my testing. I'm pretty new to ebuilds though, so I very well could have made a mistake. What does distutils do? I see you added it back into the ebuild. The makefile changed from versions 2.x to 3.x. The 3.x versions of gPodder make it easier to build with ebuilds.
3.2 ebuild doesn't work with paludis, but I cann't test with portage.

Is it possible to import the latest gpodder source into the portage tree? The current stable version is 3.6.0, according to the package home page. Would be great! :)
Reply to myself: See bug 448466
(In reply to Uwe Scholz from comment #12) > Reply to myself: See bug 448466 Because of Comment #10 it went into Portage now as I got the bug mail about it, but then I couldn't find the bug anymore where it was said, as I just expected it was in a open bug and ^ was the only open one at the time. :)
