try cpuburn or memtest ?
what version of tar do you have emerged?
tried memtest. left it on for a day straight. and using tar ver 1.13.25 been trying to fix the problem. now random crashes everywhere and harddrive corruption. likely cause is tracked to the buggy nforce apic implementation.
Is this really a bug anymore? Was it originally?
