Description Sergey Gusarov 2011-05-01 13:11:19 UTC
Colorgcc hangs when trying to compile any .c/.cpp files.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Trying to compile an empty(or any other) file

1. sergey@tphost ~/code $ ls -l main.c
-rw-r--r-- 1 sergey sergey 0 Май 1 16:50 main.c

2. sergey@tphost ~/code $ gcc main.c
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.2/../../../../lib64/crt1.o: In function `_start':
(.text+0x20): undefined reference to `main'
collect2: выполнение ld завершилось с кодом возврата 1

3. sergey@tphost ~/code $ colorgcc maic.c
^C
Actual Results:
Hang-up. Ctrl+c to break.

Expected Results:
Сolorgcc fast terminate and an error message.

colorgcc version: 1.3.2-r5

Colorgcc from upstream and from debian wheezy are working fine. It seems gentoo patches are broken.
Comment 1 Sergey Gusarov 2011-05-01 13:16:34 UTC
>Colorgcc from upstream and from debian wheezy are working fine.

I mean just copying a single file(colorgcc script) to a temporary location and run this script in my current gentoo-environment.

Also, colorgccrc not changed from default.

1) Please post your `emerge --info' output too.
2) Please set LC_ALL=C and reproduce the output you provided in the Description.
Comment 3 Sergey Gusarov 2011-05-03 07:10:10 UTC
Jeroen Roovers, ok

sergey@tphost ~/code $ ls -l main.c
-rw-r--r-- 1 sergey sergey 0 May 1 16:50 main.c
sergey@tphost ~/code $ gcc main.c
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.2/../../../../lib64/crt1.o: In function `_start':
(.text+0x20): undefined reference to `main'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
sergey@tphost ~/code $ colorgcc main.c
^C

# emerge --info colorgcc

Comment 4 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-05-06 03:51:27 UTC
You should put /usr/lib/colorgcc/bin in your PATH.
Comment 5 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-05-06 03:52:04 UTC
Oh, and you shouldn't run it as a direct replacement for gcc and so on.
Comment 6 Sergey Gusarov 2011-05-06 15:47:44 UTC
>Oh, and you shouldn't run it as a direct replacement for gcc and so on.

Strange. But i can do so in Debian and ArchLinux.
