In order to allow XEmacs to build with support for the Canna Japanese input method library, I have added support for USE canna in the XEmacs ebuild.
Created attachment 1429 [details, diff] Patch to enable canna for xemacs
Portage is going to feature a language specification soon. I think it would be better to use that, rather than the USE flag.
I absolutely defer to your judgement on the best way to handle it, and await eagerly further developments. I would like to point out that even among users with the same language preference, there may be several choices for input method, so it is not a strict 1-1 mapping. It would be greatly appreciated if there were a way for (for example) users of skk, canna, wnn to all be able to easily compile their own binaries without unneccessary bloat, even though they all might select the same language specification. There very well may be users who want support for more than one input method compiled in.
Please test this ebuild. I need to wait until the freeze ends to commit, but hopefully everything is fine Stuart

Been tested by several people with xemacs-21.4.9, and now that 21.4.10 is masked as unstable I've finally been able to get it into the tree. Sorry for taking so long to fix this bug Stu
