A while ago, I upgraded to GNOME 2.32, which went considerably smooth. But after doing an emerge -NDuv world just recently, none of the "basic" Gnome apps, like nautilus, metacity, gnome-panel, gnome-terminal, etc., seem to work any more. strace shows lots of messages, like read(3, 0xXXXXXXXX, 4096) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) while the application window appears, but stays "empty". I did all necessary revdep-rebuilds, my kernel is up to date (2.6.37-gentoo-r2) and has all the necessary options enabled, I even issued an emerge -e world during the weekend. Everything compiled without problems. Am I missing something obvious here? I will attach an exemplary strace output and my emerge --info... Reproducible: Always
Sorry guys, false alarm. I had an error in my /etc/hosts file...
Next time would probably better to try to ask in forums.gentoo.org before filing a bug report ;-)
