When loading xpdf-3.02 reports the following errors:
Error: No display font for 'Courier'
Error: No display font for 'Courier-Bold'
Error: No display font for 'Courier-BoldOblique'
Error: No display font for 'Courier-Oblique'
Error: No display font for 'Helvetica'
Error: No display font for 'Helvetica-Bold'
Error: No display font for 'Helvetica-BoldOblique'
Error: No display font for 'Helvetica-Oblique'
Error: No display font for 'Symbol'
Error: No display font for 'Times-Bold'
Error: No display font for 'Times-BoldItalic'
Error: No display font for 'Times-Italic'
Error: No display font for 'Times-Roman'
Error: No display font for 'ZapfDingbats'

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Start xpdf.  Error messages are displayed.

Actual Results:  
No error messages to be displayed.

Expected Results:  
The various "No display font" error messages are displayed.

While I'm not sure it is related.  I have always had some sort of problem with the ghostscript-9 series when it comes to viewing or printing.  Reverting to the 8 series always solves the problem.

I see the same thing.  I don't think it's a duplicate of bug 357331.  As the OP notes here, this problem is resolved with a ghostscript-gpl downgrade from 9 to 8 (or inversely, caused by the opposite upgrade).  Bug 357331 exhibits different font-related errors, including to programs like xterm which do not depend on ghostscript.

Suggest to remove duplicate status and consider independently.
