Description Greg Surbey 2003-12-11 18:26:17 UTC
I recently decided to manually remove (emerge -C) and re-build (emerge -U gnome) as many gnome 2.4 packages as I could find on my box. Emerging libbonobo-2.4.0 didn't work. After emerging either libgtop or gail (not sure which one) libbonobo emerged fine. More detials in the URL...

Reproducible: Always

There is no mention of either gtop or gail in the libbonobo source, and as far as I know neither is a dependency of libbonobo. It looks like somewhere along the line your library dependencies and/or links got messed around, which is entirely possible when you manually try things like this.

If you have any solid evidence for a gtop or gail dependency please post it here.

Hummm... I suppose it could be the library dependencies and/or links problem that you speak of, but I'm too much of a novice to understand what you're refering too. Since you say it can't be source dependency problem, then it must not be. But still I'd like to learn more about how this happened, so I don't post crap where I don't know what I'm talking about in the future. Do you know a website where I can RTFM on "library dependencies and/or links"? THX

revdep-rebuild has come about since last I posted this so issues like this should become more easily fixable.
