Description Billy DeVincentis 2011-02-07 03:53:13 UTC
Here is what happens when trying to build a kernel with any version of genkernel. It simply fails at the point of the initramfs. Here is the error below. I can't be sure but a guess here is that the new glibc-2.13 could be the culprit. I have tried several versions of genkernel, all fail, I have also tried both 2.6.36 and 2.6.37 kernels and both fail.

I believe this is related to busybox not compiling (or working) with new glibc

Comment 4 Billy DeVincentis 2011-02-09 00:55:22 UTC
Okay, I have downgraded glibc on my box and the problem is solved. There is no doubt that this problem occurs because of the busybox problem with glibc-2.13, I am leaving this bug open because although it is not a genkernel problem, all ~arch users who upgrade to glibc-2.13 will be hit with this.
Comment 5 Jon Gerdes 2011-02-13 13:49:37 UTC
I "fixed" my problem by applying a patch from bug 353816 for Glibc 2.13, then emerging Busybox and then finally compiling my kernel.

See my notes in http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353816#c19

Cheers
Jon
