Description Dan Roozemond 2011-01-30 22:31:28 UTC
while emerging aide-0.14.2 (updating from 0.13.1-r1) it compiles with warnings, then won't install:

 * QA Notice: Package has poor programming practices which may compile
 * fine but exhibit random runtime failures.
 * db_sql.c:225: warning: implicit declaration of function 'base64tobyte'
 * db_sql.c:235: warning: implicit declaration of function 'base64totime_t'
 * db_sql.c:423: warning: implicit declaration of function 'encode_string'

 *
 * QA Notice: Package has poor programming practices which may compile
 * but will almost certainly crash on 64bit architectures.
 *
 * Function `encode_string' implicitly converted to pointer at db_sql.c:423
 *
 * Please file a bug about this at http://bugs.gentoo.org/
 * with the maintaining herd of the package.

Comment 2 Dan Roozemond 2011-02-01 08:28:50 UTC
I'm not familiar with the Priority and Severity customs here (or indeed anywhere) -- so apologies in advance if I'm saying/writing something stupid.

Anyway, I saw that the severity has been adjusted to "QA", which is even below "enhancement", suggesting to me that it is not considered an important bug (even though the priority is P2). However, as things are now and as far as I can tell, running "emerge -auv world" is _broken_ for everyone who is keeping to the stable amd64 tree and has aide installed. So it seems to me that the obvious thing to do first is to make aide-0.14.2 ~amd64 again?

(Of course every user could add "=app-forensics/aide-0.14.2" to /etc/portage/package.mask, as I have done, but that's hardly a real solution)
Comment 3 Coacher 2017-05-28 17:03:54 UTC
No reproducible with aide-0.16, which is a next stable candidate.
Comment 4 Coacher 2017-07-01 13:49:19 UTC
Fixed in 0.16
