I have experienced this in some of my computers and is a bit annoying since I usually update them with a big sequence with multiple commands and "&&" between them, then, it seems to succeed when revdep-rebuild really failed. See the output: * Generated new 4_raw.rr and 4_owners.rr * Cleaning list of packages to rebuild * Generated new 4_pkgs.rr * Assigning packages to ebuilds * Generated new 4_ebuilds.rr * Evaluating package order * Generated new 5_order.rr * All prepared. This isn't quite a dupe of #326923, but it's pretty close. The patch in #326923 will also solve this.
Patched version available in my overlay. jamesbroadhead.googlecode.com/hg/portage-overlay
Targeting to be fixed with the python version of revdep-rebuild in gentoolkit-0.3.1

Fixed in the following commit: http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/gentoolkit.git;a=commit;h=57d86eac981ce951c45890854752d62c6e2b2749 It will be released in gentoolkit-0.3.0.4-r5
This wasn't fixed correctly in 0.3.0.4-r5. Should really be fixed in the following commit which will be released in -r6. http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/gentoolkit.git;a=commitdiff;h=3e51df74595c535656ef9f38bf7a577a4f64d0f5;hp=d1ee16c4194e7a94c91924d62332363d06e64aae
