Description Travis Hansen 2010-12-17 00:44:04 UTC
Couple of things I've noticed since upgrading..

1. Unchecking view offline contacts does not remain when I restart empathy
2. I have to accept a home grown jabber cert every time I restart empathy
3. It asks to import pidgin accounts every time I open it

Changes I made to notifications and sounds in the preferences menu also don't stick.

Reproducible: Always

please update to gconf-2.32.0-r1, it should make settings saving work.
Comment 2 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-12-17 08:51:22 UTC
It should be fixed then

(thanks Gilles for the solution for people not using dconf :-))
Comment 3 Travis Hansen 2010-12-17 09:25:18 UTC
I already have gconf-2.32.0-r1 installed. Still nothing.
Comment 4 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-12-17 09:36:43 UTC
you have to run env-update and restart your desktop (restarting machine is easier). If it still does not work, please attach your .xsession-errors and the log from empathy when started from a terminal.
Comment 5 Travis Hansen 2010-12-17 16:18:00 UTC
I had killed and restarted gconfd but apparently that wasn't enough :)

The thing still prompts to accept my cert every time, but that's probably as designed.

Thanks!

yes, killing gconf isn't useful since it is an environment variable, all process need to be aware of it for it to work. The certificate stuff is by design indeed, you just have to go tick "ignore ssl errors" or some such option in empathy account settings and you'll be fine. Closing.
