Description Geoff Madden 2010-11-29 08:56:01 UTC
tar is failing to create a dir needed for further unpacking

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -u world
2.icedtea files downloaded from server
3.ebuild starts to unpack files

Actual Results:
unpacking is apparently stymied (stopped) by the failure to create a directory

Expected Results:
files unpacked to /var/tmp/portage/dev-java/icedtea6-1.9.2,then compiled

which version of app-arch/tar is installed? IIRC some was broken in this regard, see bug 343921

tar-1.25 it appears that the problem hasn't been remedied,as it was the same in 1.24

I am going to try that patch referred to in bug 343921, but will have to do it manually (the compile) that is,as I'm not too sure how to get the ebuild to accept the amended program,as the md5 will have changed somewhat.

I applied that patch manually from 343921. rezipped the original 1.9.2 file, regenerated the the necessary hashes and reran ebuild on the icedtea6-1.9.2.ebuild . This took me a couple of hours figuring out how to cut/paste the bits to the Manifest file, found kate was the better option todo this under KDE, now compilation is proceeding as it should,as I send this off.
